Installation is very basic and simple. I will give explicit instructions on how to install and begin playing this game.
Once you have downloaded this game go to where you downloaded it and locate the downloaded file which is titled "tricked-three.exe" (unless you changed its name). Double click this file and choose extraction location. Once it is extracted, go to where you extracted it and locate this extracted folder which is titled "tricked-three" (unless you changed its name) and open it. In this folder, locate an icon that is titled "Game" which also has the description "RGSS Player". Double click this to begin playing. Save files will automatically save in this folder.
Despite the name, it is not actually a sequel. I named it Tricked Three because it's the third installment of this game, the first was very short, the second longer, and this third combined both games into one full length game. Also, the title "Tricked Three" has the initials "TT" which is the same for "trickstutorials". Jamesters resides in a normally peaceful environment when suddenly bad things start happening. He then meets up with his friends Jujimufu and Antoine and they try to find out why. What seems at first to be a bunch of cliches, becomes surprisingly twisted.
When the game starts up you will be at the Title screen. At this screen there will be 3 options: Start Game, Continue Game, and End Game. Start Game allows you to begin playing the actual game. Continue Game is only accessible if you already have a saved file. You can have a saved file by starting the game and accessing a save place in the game and saving there. Accessing End Game will close the game down.
Many things can be figured out along the way but I'll go over some of the basics.
If an enemy touches you then it will inflict a battle.
There are certain skills developed later on in the game, so that there are some functions you will not be able to do early on but you will be able to later.
Houses in the game will have different colored roofs which specify what kind of house it is. Purple houses are for warping. Blue houses are for healing characters. Red houses are to buy or sell items. Green houses are to buy equipment. Orange houses tend to have something special inside them. And finally, yellow houses are generally pretty normal houses or dungeons of some sort.
The menu is accessed by pressing "Escape". The menu has the following options: Item, Special, Equipment, Status, Save, and End Game.
When in a battle, each character has a stamina bar. The stamina gains on its own and once it reaches its maximum, a window for that character will pop up. The choices in this window are: Attack, Special, Defend, and Item. Choosing Attack will do a basic physical attack. Choosing Special will allow a selection of that character's special attacks. Choosing Defend will increase that character's defense for a short time. Finally, choosing Item will allow you to use an item from your menu.
Each character has different types of Specials. Jamesters has a mixture of basic Specials and also Specials which can temporarily increase the status of all allies. Jujimufu has Specials which focus on healing allies. Antoine only has Specials which do damage and inflict a negative status effect to the enemy at the same time. Not all Specials are obtained immediately. Instead, new Specials are unlocked as the characters level up.
The Status screen will show a bunch of different statistics. First it shows the character's name followed by class. Below that is Lv and below that is a bracket. To the right of those is EXP and below that is NEXT. Lower down is the Health Bar and Energy Bar. Even lower are the specific statistics which are: Power, Physical Defense, Spiritual Defense, Strength, Dexterity, Speed, and Intelligence. And lastly, to the right of those statistics are the Equipment.
I'm noting that there are other Status Effects than listed but others can be learned as one progresses through the game.
Defeat first enemy, head north, there's a treasure in the left corner containing Rad Suit, head west and talk to Trymeys. It's good to heal and save at times, now would be a good time since the first boss is up north. After you defeat the first boss, you can go north to Massive City.
The equipment shop in Massive City sells Righteous Cap and Open Minded Cap. Whenever you're ready to leave this city, you can go west to go to Cool Fields.
In Cool Fields, head up and to the right. There will be a treasure containing Plasmic Shield in the water here that gradually floats by, you'll have to get it right when it floats next to the ledge. If you miss it, just leave the area and come back and it will float by again. Keep going up to get to Modest City.
The equipment shop here sells Silver Spiritual Bracelet and Silver Energy Bracelet. There's a mini game house in the north part of the city. By winning the mini games here you can get Spiritual Sword and Energetic Blade. There's a house north in this city that enters you inside Scary Home.
In Scary Home, head to the left, to get this key just step on the buttons until they all stay down and then get the chest. Head to the right, to get this key, make the enemies follow you until they all get stopped on a red button. From the start of Scary Home, head up and you can unlock the north door with the 2 keys you have. To get the treasure chest, you'll have to follow an invisible path from the left side of the room. Once you get this key you can go through the north door and fight the boss.
Once the Scary Home boss is defeated, the only way to get back to Massive City is by going down the stairs in the healing house of Modest City. The stairs lead to Sly Sewers. There's a treasure chest containing Rad Shield in the second area here.
Once you're in Massive City, you can now get to Scary Fields. When you make it to the maze in Scary Fields, you can get to a treasure chest containing Plasmic Suit by going down, right, up, up. You can make it to the boss by going down, right, up, right.
The equipment shop here in Hip City sells Wise Cap and Buff Shield. There's a house here where you can battle enemies with just 1 of your characters at a time. This is a good way to even your characters levels out. However, it'd be unrealistic to be able to beat all of the enemies here at this point in the game. There's a house here that you can buy for 1,000 moonies. Even if you buy it now, you won't have all the abilities at this point in the game to get anything from buying this house. North of Hip City is Freaky Fields.
Once you make it all the way through Freaky Fields, there will be 2 ladders which lead down into caves. In the first cave you enter, at the bottom there will be a puzzle. You can choose bottom, bottom, bottom, top, bottom, to get to the end of it. After pressing the button, you'll now be able to go to the right of this first cave. There will be another puzzle here. The enemies move whenever you are in front of them, try to quickly get the enemies on the right to move to their button before the top enemy goes beyond his. It's easiest to get the top right enemy to move one then the bottom right enemy to move to its button then the top right enemy to move one more. The second cave will now be unlocked. In the second cave will be another puzzle, the goal is to get all the rocks to line up with one another. The first button moves the first and third rocks, the second button moves the first and second rocks, and the third button moves the second and third rocks. There doesn't seem to be a clean and easy strategy for this puzzle, it just takes some trial and error. After you get them lined up, a teleportation device will appear and teleport you to a button you can press. Back in the first cave, a new path will be opened to the left. A boss will be there. Make sure Antoine's learned Delayed Hands On Hip Most Muscular before fighting this boss and use it sparingly to keep this boss slower, otherwise its attacks will destroy all your characters down simultaneously very quickly. After defeating this boss, there will be a cut scene. After this cut scene, there will be another boss battle in the door of the gym in Massive City. After this boss battle, there will be another cut scene and then you'll be in Dangerous Dungeon.
Once in Dangerous Dungeon, you'll be alone, but you'll quickly be able to get your other characters back. Once you have your characters, just head north then take the west path. Once you press the button here, you'll be locked in and have to defeat all 4 enemies to get to the next area. If you follow each area for a while, you'll get to a boss. This boss has an attack with a Special Down affect, so be wise about when and how to use your special attacks. Once you defeat him, a new path will open up near the beginning of this dungeon. Take that path, then there will be a cut scene, then you'll make it to Gracious City.
The equipment shop in Gracious city sells Spiritual Rope, Gold Energy Bracelet, and Cosmic Glaive. There's a mini game house in Gracious City, you can win Bodacious Suit, Spark Suit, and Muss Suit. If you go to the north of the city, there's Spastic Dungeon.
In the first room, there's a button hidden to the top right. In the next room, just step on the blue button and have Jujimufu and Antoine behind you so that the enemies get blocked and press the red buttons together. In the next room, if you walk diagonally north east, you can block the enemies again and get them to press the red buttons together while you stay on the blue button. In the next room, just use Jujimufu and Antoine to block the enemies so that they are distanced from each other in such a way that they walk across the red buttons at the same time, while you stay pressing the blue button. In the next room, simply press the blue button, then in the next room is one of the bosses. After this boss, you'll learn a new skill.
Now that you've learned this new skill, you can go back to Hip City, and in the house you can purchase here, you can use this new skill to get to a treasure which contains Spiritual Cap.
You can use this new skill to jump on top of the roof of the dungeon. Enter the door and in this room, just jump across the pad to the side that has another pad, each time a new jump pad will be unlocked. Once you've unlocked them all, you can progress to the next room. The next room has a bunch of enemies to avoid, just travel to the next room. In the next room, you can jump down then travel up. Having the first and fourth blue pad pressed will open the first door, having the second and fourth blue pad pressed closes all doors, having the first and third blue pad pressed opens the second door, and having the second and third blue pad pressed opens the third door. If you go back into the first door, you can find the Spark Shield. If you take the second door, you'll be teleported back outside. If you take the third door, you'll get to the second boss. After this boss, you'll learn a new skill.
Now that you've learned this new skill, you can go back to Massive City and push a box there onto a green pad and get Rational Cap. You can also go back to Hip City and in the house you can purchase here, you can use this new skill to get to a treasure which contains Deep Thinker Cap.
You can use this new skill to enter the other door at the first story of the dungeon. Just push the box onto the green button. It's possible to do the puzzle here without fighting the enemy, but that can be very difficult. It might be simpler to just fight the enemy then try to solve the puzzle. To solve the puzzle, move the box left, up, up, right, right, right, up, right, right, up, left, up, up, left, left, up, up, right, right, right, right, down, right, right, right, down, down, down, down, right, down, down, down, down, down. The next room's also possible to do without fighting any of the enemies, but it's difficult. In order to avoid fighting, you can push the box some ways, then when the enemies get near run away to get them to a bottom corner, then run back to the box and push it some more and repeat that process. After you push it all the way to the top then left, and put it on a green button, the door will open. In this next room, just try to stay on one side of the rocks and cut across to the other side in order to avoid fighting the enemies. Once you make it all the way back to the room with the 6 doors, if you take the third door again, you can find Muss Shield. Having the second and fourth blue button as well as green button pressed opens the fourth door, having the first and fourth blue button as well as green button pressed opens the fifth door, having the first and third blue button as well as green button closes all doors, and having the second and third blue button as well as green button opens the sixth door. The fourth door teleports you outside. The fifth door contains Bodacious Shield. The sixth door teleports you to the third boss.
After you've obtained all 3 "escapees", you can go to the police station in Gracious City and turn them in. You'll obtain Bus Tickets. You can then go to the bus station and get to Droopy Desert.
You'll start off as just Jamesters in Droopy Desert. If you walk to the next screen, there will be a puzzle. You can take the middle pad, then right, left, down, right, right. If you take the southwest pad here, you can get to a Gold Spirit Bracelet. You can take the southeast pad to get to the next area. The rest of the pads either lead nowhere or to enemies. In the next area, you just make your way through, the top teleportation device leads to the boss, the bottom teleportation device leads back to the beginning of the area. When you get to the boss, a good strategy is get to using your special attacks right away since the boss has Special Down, so do as much damage as you can with special attacks early in the fight. Once you beat the boss, you'll start playing just as Jujimufu.
Once you're Jujimufu, if you go to the next area north, you'll get to ride a train track. Many paths lead to an enemy, if you want to avoid enemies, make the fourth turn left, just keep following the path until it goes north again then make the third turn right and then the third turn up. The teleportation device at the end will take you to the beginning of the area. In the next area, there will be a bunch of enemies. Just try to go north as fast as you can. There's Energetic Chain in the northeast corner, try to scroll through the text fast when you get it if you want to avoid fights. In the next area, you just ride the tracks and try not to fall off, read the sign so you know what to do. The teleportation device at the end brings you back to the beginning. The boss is also at the end. After the boss, you start playing just as Antoine.
Once you start playing as Antoine, if you head all the way northeast, you can find Gold Cosmos Bracelet. If you walk to the next area, there's a puzzle. Push the highest box up, then the higher box left, then the lower box left, then the next lower box down, then the next lower box down, then the next lower box down, then the next box right, then the next box down. The teleportation device here brings you back to the beginning of the area. The next area is full of enemies, you can just go west as fast as you can. The next area some enemies that are tricky to avoid, then the boss at the end. A good strategy is to use Poison Clean And Jerk since the boss has an attack which can make you weak so at least the boss will take a lot of damage from being poisoned. After the boss, all members will be reunited and you'll be in Deserted City.
The equipment shop in Deserted City sells Spiritual Crossbow, Energetic Dagger, and Cosmic Sabre. There's also a house here that lets you see what equipment you've collected and where it's located. In order to advance in this place, go to the purple house and talk to Bob. You'll then be able to travel north of this city. Once you go north, you can take the path a step at a time, up 5, left 7, up 5, right 5, up 5, right 9, down 5, right 4, down 4, left 7, down 5, right 11, then from here you can go up 16 then left 7 to get Tubular Shield but then you'll have to start over, otherwise you can just go up 19, left 5, up 8. In the next area you can talk to Bob and then ride Slick Ship.
If you go to the cannon on this ship you can play a mini game called Destroy Birdie. A good strategy is to repeatedly keep pressing the action key, this will increase the chances of hitting a birdie. Also, any time there's nothing on screen, it's best to stay in the center, that position has the best chances of getting to any birdie that might pop up. If you beat this mini game, you get Strong Shield.
On this ship, there's a guy here who will give you Slick Key 1. The right ladder leads to a healing spot and save spot. The left ladder leads to an area with more doors as well as enemies.
Down this left ladder and in the northwest room is a turtle. You have to press the action key on him, which can be very difficult. It's easier if you can trap him in a corner of the room. If you capture him, you'll get Slick Key 2.
In the north room, you have to search the pots for Slick Key 3. Row 1 Pot 4 has an enemy, Row 2 Pot 7 has an enemy, Row 3 Pot 2 has an enemy, Row 4 Pot 6 has Slick Key 3, Row 5 Pot 3 has an enemy, Row 6 Pot 9 has an enemy, Row 7 Pot 1 has an enemy.
In the northeast room is a girl. This girl gives a hint by saying that "X" marks the spot. If you go to the top of the ship, you can find an X somewhere. Press the action key on the X and you'll get Broken Slick Key 4. If you bring this to the girl, she'll mend it for you and you'll get Mended Slick Key 4.
In the southwest room is a puzzle. You need to press all the buttons down. Often you'll need to back track to repress a button you undid. You also have to have all the buttons pressed down while your in front of the treasure chest, that way you can open it. You'll get Slick Key 5.
In the south room is a boss. You'll get Slick Key 6 after you win.
In the southeast room is a guy. If you talk to him, he'll give you some information. You can then go to the top of the ship and talk to the guy who went subconscious. You'll then be dropped off on Pretty Place.
In Pretty Place, the equipment shop here sells Faith Cap, Theory Cap, and Proof Cap. If you go to the purple house and talk to Trymeys, you'll get Pretty Key. Once you have Pretty Key, you can go to the area up north and get into a house. In this house you can learn how to swim. Now that you can swim, there are some places you can go back to and get new stuff.
You can go to Modest City, go to the north area and swim to get Strong Suit. You can also go to Hip City and inside the house you buy here you can get Tubular Suit. You can also go to Gracious City and go to the north area to get Atomic Suit. You might also want to fight some more enemies in Hip City at this time.
If you head north from Pretty Place and swim across, you'll get to Trymeys Tavern. You can head either left or right first. If you head left, just head up and avoid getting hit by the spikes. Also, the enemies here only move if you move. Once you get past all the spikes, the next area has a telportation device that teleports you back to the beginning of Trymeys Tavern. If you head north, there will be balls here that will hurt you if they hit Jamesters. You can use the other members to blocks the balls and then go around them. In the next area, you can push a box down a black space in the floor. Now, back from the beginning, if you head right, there will be an Atomic Shield here but it will be hard to avoid the enemies if you want to get it. Once you head north from here, there will be a teleportation device which takes you back to the beginning of Trymeys Tavern. If you go north, there will be a ball that rolls down in this area. Just run up and go into the spaces from a diagonal angle and exit the spaces from a diagonal angle, that's the only way to do it without getting hit. In the area left of here, you can push a box down a black space in the floor. Now, back from the beginning, you can head north and cross the floor which is now bridged by the boxes. There will be a teleportation device here that will teleport you to a new area of Trymeys Tavern.
In this new area, the transportation device here transports you back to the beginning of Trymeys Tavern. You can head left or right in this new area. If you head left, the first area is just a bunch of enemies, simply head west. In the next area is a puzzle. You can push the box up, left, up, left, down, right, up, right, down, left, down, left. From the new area, if you head right, just go past all the enemies and head north. In the next area, swim up and then to the left and try to get the enemy to step on the red button. Back at the new area, if you've pressed the buttons from both the left and right sides, the north door will then be open. Once you enter the north door, a cut scene will occur and then you'll end up in Tricked Town.
In Tricked Town, the equipment shop here sells Spiritual Knife, Energetic Javelin, and Cosmic Axe. South of this town you can find a mini game house. You can win Ionic Shield and Gnarly Shield. For the maze game, the first 2 mazes you can solve just by looking around, the last one's harder because there are hidden passages, just try pressing against walls and you can find your way through.
In Tricked Town, if you head west and go in the house here, there will be Tricked Key 1 if you head north, it takes a really long time, but eventually there's an end. In Tricked Town, in order to head east, you'll need certain food items. You can get an Orange in Massive City, an Apple in Modest City, a Banana in Hip City, a Pear in Gracious City, a Watermelon in Deserted City, and a Cantaloupe in Pretty Place. Once you have all the food items, you can head east in Tricked Town. The house at the end has a boss battle and you'll get Trick Key 2. Once you have both keys, you can head north to get into Future Factory.
In Future Factory, try not to step on any X on the floor because they hurt. Make your way north and into the room to the right. In this room, stepping on the pads will slide you in that direction. After sliding forward, if you head back to the left then go diagonally southwest, you can get Divinity Cap. Down leads to a teleportation device that will bring you to the beginning of the room. Right leads to an enemy and to a teleportation device that will bring you to the beginning of the room. Up, left, leads to an enemy and then a teleportation device that will bring you to the beginning of the room. If you go up, up, then head back down and to the left you can get Evidence Cap, and then you can take the teleportation device to go back to the beginning of the room. Up, right, up leads to the next room, there's also a teleportation device that brings you to the beginning of the room. Up, right, right leads to a teleportation device that brings you to the beginning of the room.
In the next room, whenever you hear a sound, the directions will be reversed, meaning pressing up would cause you to go down, pressing right would cause you to go left, pressing down would cause you to go up, and pressing left would cause you to go right, and then at the next sound they would be normal again. Also, when the directions are reversed, you can't travel diagonally. There will be a treasure chest containing Knowledge Cap here that's easy to see but hard to get without getting into a battle. In the next room is a puzzle, you have to press all the buttons in a limited amount of time. In the next room, you have 60 seconds to stay trapped in a room with some enemies. A strategy is to go a step away from a corner of the room then head one step diagonal to another step away from a corner and then go one step to the corner. This makes it so Jamesters is in the corner while the other members block the enemies from getting to Jamesters for a battle. Another strategy is to get in a fight and just stay still in an attack screen and let the time run out. After this room, you'll get to a room with a boss. A good strategy for this boss is to use Special Down Squat on Antoine and Jujimufu, then focus on taking out Jujimufu first so he can't heal the members, then take out Antoine so he can't inflict your members with status effects, and then take out Jamesters.
In Tricked Town, there's now a new place you can get to in the blue house called Final Fortress.
In Final Fortress, in the north area there's a puzzle. Trymeys moves in whatever direction you're facing. Careful though, some sections will lead you to pressing down twice soon after each other, which will cause you to leave the area and have to start over. Also, once Trymeys is on the button, you have to get to the treasure chest fast in order for it to open. You'll get Final Key 1.
In Final Fortress, to get to the east area, just move a top and bottom box right first, then the middle box either up or down.
In this east area, just act fast and get to the up pad and jump over as soon as the top enemy runs past it. The teleportation device here will bring you to the beginning of the area. The next area you can head to an area north or you can jump with the pads and go east. It helps to use your members to offset the movement of the enemies. In the north area is a puzzle. Just walk around the area to try to get Trymeys to follow you until he steps on the button and then you can open the treasure chest for Final Key 2.
In the next east area, just jump over the pads right before the enemies get to them. The teleportation device here brings you back to the beginning of the area. You can head either north or east.
In the north area is a puzzle involving 2 rooms. You can take the only available teleportation device and then go up the stairs. You'll have to walk diagonally to get across some of the holes in the floor. You can drop down the hole furthest left first which will lead to a button you can press. You can then drop down the hole furthest down to get to another button. You can then drop down the hole furthest up to get to another button. You can then drop down the hole that's highest in the front of the diagonal holes, and then you can push a box across the water which will fill a space in the ground.
In the east area is a puzzle. You can move the bottom box right, up, left, then you can move the top box up, right, down, left, up, then you can move the bottom box down, right, up, right. In the next area you can swim north, then there's another area north that has a puzzle. You can move the box up, right, up, right, down, left, up, right, down, right. Then go to the treasure chest and you'll get Final Key 3. You can then go to the left area and swim across the box and go north.
In this next area, you can either head left or right. If you go left, you'll go through a series of areas in which you have to avoid being pointed at by the arrows. You're safe if you're behind a rock. The last section can be very difficult. Walk to the middle when the bottom area is pointing up and down. At this point, occasionally both the bottom and top arrow will point left and right, while the middle arrow will be pointing up and down, you can then walk right up to the middle arrow. From here, once the top arrow goes up and down again, move one space up then wait for the middle arrow to turn left and right, that's when you can rush to the treasure chest and open it for the Final Key 4.
If you go right, you'll go through an area and you can go around different places to try to avoid the enemies. In the next area is a puzzle. Push the box in front of the down part of the arrow then press the button. Before you use the jump pad, push the box to the right, now when you use the jump pad, you'll be able to push the box up without the arrow sending you back. Press the next button and repeat this process until all buttons are pressed, then you can go to the next area. In the next area, try to push the box 4 spaces right, then get under as fast as you can and right as the arrow goes past, get one space before the next arrow. Try to run under Trymeys when he's towards the middle and anticipate where his next step will be. Right when the arrow goes past you for the second time, you can probably run and make it to the end and get Final Key 5. Now that you have all 5 of the keys, you can go to the room north. There's also a secret path through the wall here that leads to Power Shield.
In the north room is the final boss of the game. Even after you defeat the final boss, you can go back to Hip Town to try to defeat all the enemies in the enemy house and collect all equipment in the game.
In the enemy house in Hip City, you can win Cosmic Sais, Buff Suit, and Cosmos Bracelet for the first round of enemies, Spirit Bracelet, Platinum Energy Bracelet, and Platinum Cosmos Bracelet for the second round of enemies, and Gnarly Suit, Ionic Suit, and Power Suit for the third round of enemies. Once you get to the third round of enemies, even if your levels are maxed out, you'll need to be stocked on items to defeat many of the enemies.
Once you've collected all the equipment elsewhere in the game, you can get the final 3 equipments in a house in Deserted City which are Diamond Spirit Bracelet, Diamond Energy Bracelet, and Diamond Cosmos Bracelet.
Once you've collected all equipment and maxed out the levels of all members which is 30, you can go to a special house in the south part of Tricked Town.
